“Chongqing Hot Pot” has been shown on the screen on November 11, 2016 at NTT CRED Hall with a talk show with Jeffrey Chan who is a one of the producers of this film.

“Chongqing Hot Pot” is a crime film about three high school classmates who are the owners of a hotpot restaurant in an old bomb shelter in Chongqing. When they are digging in the shelter to expand the restaurant, they suddenly reached the bank. So these three men came up with the plan to rob the bank with women who used to be their classmates and now are working at the bank.

“Chongqing Hot Pot” is directed by Qing Yang who was born in Chongqing in 1980. This film was released in 2016 and made a great hit in China. Hiroshima International Film Festival 2016 was the first time to be shown in Japan and is expected for more distribution. Mr. Chan says “The Chinese film market is growing rapidly. And this film is the one of the best films so I want everyone to see it.” He also added with a great smile “I hope everyone enjoyed this film, but I want everyone to try Chinese hotpot too. It’s hot, spicy, and dangerous.”
