On Friday, November 15th, a talk show held after the A-group short film competition screened, was splendid. The directors from four films out of five were on the stage. It was only 30 minutes. However, we could hear the talk of their feeling for their own films and stories during shooting the movies.

Excerpts from the interview－
●Director: Takushi Nishinaka  Title: “Sylvia”  (Japan 2014)
This movie was based on the project that his friend wrote during college. There are incidents that troubled my mind in my life, like the derailment of the Fukuchiyama line, the Great East Japan earthquake and so on. Those kinds of incidents drove me to make this film, I think. All incidents were really shocking. However, in the end, this movie describes the way that a family works. So I was groping with the balance, trying not to drag out the background during making the movie. These days, the people watching my movie say, “It’s full of your traits.” From this movie, I felt myself, “This is my color.”

 ●Director: Hyunkyu Kim   Title: “I’d like to take a trip with your wife”  (Korea 2013)
During my collage years, a woman came in to my life. But during the military service, she was seeing my friend and it broke my heart. It was from that experience, I got inspiration for this movie. It uses serious material, such as death. However, it’s humorous and enjoyable film. This movie demonstrates love and friendship. Love could change into friendship after years and friend ship could change into love too. I put that kind of idea into this movie.

●Director: Mark Ang   Title: “Replace”  (Taiwan 2014)
I got the idea for this film from my friend’s experience and suicide news made headlines widely in Taiwan. It’s a 15 minute short film now, but I want to make it a long film someday. In the end roll, closed scenes and photos were screened. That is the material that will be used in the long film. Please wait for the release.

 ●Director: Lin Tzu Yao  Title: “Terminate the Cycle”  (Taiwan 2014)
When I read the script, I thought it’s gonna be an unusual film. I was a photographer. That was a reason I shot this movie while holding the expression. After watching this film, some people think this is a love story, but it’s not what I aimed for. It’s really interesting to hear how the audience felt from this film.
