STORY
NARUSHIMA Izuru, born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1961, started his career as a screenwriter in 1994. He gained recognition for his debut film, "The Hunter and the Hunted" (2003), starring YAKUSHO Koji, which earned him both the Fujimoto Award for Best New Director and the Yokohama Film Festival New Director Award. Since then, he has directed several notable films such as "Fly, Daddy, Fly" (2005), "A Lone Scalpel" (2010), and "Admiral Yamamoto" (2011), also featuring YAKUSHO Koji. One of NARUSHIMA’s most acclaimed works is "Rebirth" (2011), which received 10 awards at the 35th Japan Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. His upcoming film, "Ginga Tetsudou no Chichi" [lit. Father of the Galactic Railroad], starring YAKUSHO Koji, is scheduled to be released in 2023. NARUSHIMA is also known for "Solomon's Perjury: The Case" (2015), "Solomon's Perjury: The Trial" (2015), "To Each His Own" (2017), "Farewell: Comedy of Life Begins with a Lie" (2019), and "A Morning of Farewell" (2021).
