Plot of Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni

A girl named Suzu, who likes to draw, is living in Eba, Hiroshima. She then moves to Kure City, some 20 km away, to marry a young man she has never met.
The movie moves forward to 1944. Suzu, who became a housewife at 18 years old, has to use her ingenuity just to put food on the table everyday in the midst of severe shortages of all necessities.
The war intensifies and Kure, the base of the Japanese navy, is repeatedly attacked from the air.
The warships that Suzu saw every day from her garden are consumed in flames and the city is reduced to ashes. But even as she gradually loses all things near and dear to her, Suzu strives every day to keep her life together.
