“Nobuhiko Obayashi Selection” features four movies handpicked by the director himself: “Bound for the Fields, the Mountains, and the Seacoast” (1986), “Summer Among the Zombies” (1988), “Goodbye for Tomorrow” (1995) and “Seven Weeks” (2014). The venue is Hiroshima City Cinematographic And Audio-Visual Library. Immerse yourself in the World of Obayashi, known as the “Magician of Images”.
Director Obayashi was born in Onomichi City, Hiroshima, in 1938. After producing a stream of successful TV ads as advertisement director, Obayashi moved on to the commercial movie industry. Dubbed as the “Magician of Images”, the director is also known for Onomichi Trilogy featuring his hometown. “Casting Blossoms to the Sky”, “Seven Weeks”, and “HANAGATAMI” constitutes Obayashi’s War Trilogy. Despite being diagnosed with cancer, Obayashi vigorously continues to disseminate powerful messages through his movies. The multiply awarded director is a great legend of our time.
