The screening of “OBON” and the talk show was held at the Yokogawa Cinema on November 24th at 16:00.

This film described that amidst of the terror and nightmares of A-Bomb, how Ms. Akiko Takakura found a moment of rare closeness with her father.

The interviewer was Tomoko Nishizaki from the Hiroshima Film Commission. As Ms. Anna Samo showed up on the stage, the hall was filled with applause by the audience.

The message of co-director Mr. Horman Andre was introduced and it said, “It took us 6 years to make this film, but I’m very happy that we are able to screen it in Hiroshima finally.We would feel honored if the audience accepted the Hiroshima we described in the film.”

Ms. Samo, who was in charge of animation in the film, said, “I’m honored that for the first time, I watched this film together with Japanese people.” She continued that she had researched to describe the detail of traditional Japan and that the difficult part of making the film was to pour emotions into it on each frame.

She also spoke that she met Ms. Takakura for the first time in person just before the screening and described the moment that “I had been already very familiar with her voice as she played as a voice actor in the film, so I felt very strange to meet her face to face for the first time. I felt a connection between us when she looked me in the eye, shook hands and said ‘Thank you.’ ”
