The Hiroshima International Film Festival has been introducing historically important French movies that are not known in Japan, in cooperation with Cinémathèque française since 2015. In 2015, we invited Jean-François Roger, Program Director of Cinémathèque française, to hold the founder Henri Langlois special issue. In 2016, we invited a film director and producer, Paul Vecchiali and featured a production company, "Diagonale", that produced a debut work of many young directors after Nouvelle Vague. In 2017, under the leadership of Cinematheque Française, we introduced the restoration film festival "Toute la mémoire de monde" which has been held from 2012 with a director, Pauline de Raymond.
We are planning to hold a special issue on "Retrospective de Mai 68", celebrating the 50th anniversary this year. Under the aegis of Henri Langlois, we will introduce especially the works of a group "Zanzibar", which was formed mainly by young artists under the influence of May 1968 events in France.
