"Peter Nestler Feature" will be screened at Yokogawa Cinema November 24 (Sat.) at 20:00.

Three works were screened : "Defense of Time", "The Metamorphosis of the Good Neighbor", "The Hollow People".

Before the screening, director Peter Nestler said, "It is a special experience for me to be shown in Hiroshima, I was a generation that experienced World War II. When I was a child, many people were walking in the march of death. My parents hid them at home. My experiences during wartime are utilized in my film. He talked about his own experience and his movie.

After the screening the talk show started. German film researcher Tetsuya Shibutani was a listener.

When Mr. Shibuya asked what kind of circumstances the three films was created, "The 1st work "Defense of Time" is a documentary that filmed Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet, a filmmaker's couple. I made it as a preliminary work. I was very happy when I received a request because they are my friends."

The 2nd work "The Metamorphosis of the Good Neighbor" is a documentary of one of the 53 survivors from Sobibór extermination camp. The director said, "I thought that I should tell modern people about the camp. I visited him with hand camera. This film is hardly screened. Because it is forbidden to express in Poland that Poland is responsible for the Holocaust. "

"The 3rd work "The Hollow People" is created by asking for a project to make a short novel into a movie. The method of putting a picture was decided, but the music wasn’t. When I got a strong impression by listening to the concert at Alban Berg in Stockholm, I decided to use his songs for the work." Director Nestler told the background of the work.

About the "The Metamorphosis of the Good Neighbor" the audience asked "What do you think about the film of the Holocaust directed by Claude Lanzmann?" The director said "The background of making his work is different from mine, in my film the German is responsible for sin” and the talk show ended.
