World film industry’s attention drawer, Albert Serra (Spain) who directed “The Death of Louis XIV”, comes to Hiroshima for the first time

We will invite Director Albert Serra from Spain as a judge of International Competition of Short Films. His new film “The Death of Louis XIV” (2016) was in Cannes Film Festival’s Special Screening last year, and “Birdsong” was nominated for Cannes Film Festival’s Directors' Fortnight in 2008 were chosen to be shown. This will be his first visit to Japan.

Director Albert Serra (1975-) is an up-and-coming young director in Spain. His film, “Honor of the Knights” was nominated for Cannes Film Festival’s Directors' Fortnight, and “Story of My Death” received The Golden Leopard, the best award in the Locarno International Film Festival.

A legendary French actor, Jean-Pierre Léaud starred in “The Death of Louis XIV”, and Albert Serra received The Prix Jean Vigo, renowned as the award for best young director of the year.

He is a remarkable director, highly-regarded by film industry.
