This is the story of a young girl's quest to learn how to harness the magic of light. 18-year-old Rei (Rie Kaneko)is a high school student wondering what to do after graduation and spending her days dreaming while playing with the light of a flashlight. Rei once made a promise upon parting with her childhood friend and first love that she would learn how to use magic by the next time they met. Under the worried gaze of her friend, the class representative(Haruhi Nakajima), her experiments with light continue to grow in momentum. One day she is suddenly reunited with the boy with whom she made her promise, Kaito(Kaito Yoshimura). Kaito is the son of Mongoloid, the vocalist of Vampillia, and writes songs for the band as well as doing lighting and sound for their stage act. After being reunited with and drawn into the world of the peculiar members of Vampillia, she discovers the colorful world of stage lighting. Thinking that she may have finally found her magic, she begins to walk the path to becoming a light technician...

Mai Sakai
Born in 1991 in Nagano, Japan. Graduated from the Kyoto University of Art and Design. After being selected for numerous festivals and winning several awards for her debut,Lollipop, she went on to direct Spirited Away with Caramel Candies, featuring Masatoshi Nagase, her graduation project The Golden Key, and Laugh and Get Fat for Short Story Nagoya. She moved to Tokyo to direct this, her latest work.
