Fri. November 14, 3:00PM, before opening HIFF, judges and directors offered flowers to the monument for atomic-bomb victims at the Peace Memorial Park. Director Nobuo Mizuta, a screen writer Masato Kato, and some directors who were invited or nominated for HIFF, participated in this floral tribute. They laid flowers on and prayed for the monument.

  Masato Kato who represented participants at flower tribute said, “I came here, to the Peace Memorial Park, three years ago. Every time I come here, I realize that there actually was the war 69 years ago, and it makes me think about war. It is unusual that there is such a large peace memorial place. So I hope many people around the world will come here and pray.”

  After offering flowers, they took a group photograph against the background of the monument and the A-bomb dome.
