Documentary A Nikkei Canadian Story to Screen at Hiroshima International Film Festival 2025

The documentary film A Nikkei Canadian Story, produced in Ottawa and Toronto, Canada, will be screened at the Hiroshima International Film Festival 2025.
The film tells the moving story of Dr. Henry Takayori Shibata, a second-generation Japanese Canadian whose life was profoundly affected by World War II. Through his memories, it explores the enduring ties between his two homelands and his lifelong pursuit of peace.
As part of the festival’s 80th Year Since the Atomic Bombing Commemorative Program, A Nikkei Canadian Story joins a lineup of films that reflect on war and peace from diverse perspectives.
This work serves as a bridge between Hiroshima and Canada, connecting shared histories and hopes for peace.
Following the screening, there will be a talk session with Director Alice Il Shin and Producer Eiko Kawabe-Brown.
