Talk Show: Works that Move Hearts Around the World

On Sunday November 24th at 9:40 a.m., a talk event was held by Mr. Kazuhiro HIRAMA (a director of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Consulting LLC) and Yukihiro MORIGAKI (a film director) at NTT CRED Hall No.1. The topic was about what kind of content would move audience's hearts around the world.

Although the talk show started earlier than any other programs in all the Hiroshima Film Festival (HIFF) 2024, many people came to listen to the valuable session that could only be heard at this event.

While providing consulting services, PwC has also been working to enhance the value of arts and entertainment contents. That event was a collaboration with Director MORIGAKI, who is well known for his skillful depiction of emotional transformation.

Director MORIGAKI, who is from Hiroshima Prefecture, shared some episodes about days before aiming to be a film director. He talked about some memories of his hometown and some places such as Alpark, which is familiar for Hiroshima locals, brought smiles to the faces of the audience and created a warm atmosphere.

In discussing the differences between his films, commercials, and music videos, Director MORIGAKI replied that he would reflect his clients' requests when making commercials and music videos, while he could express his own ideas and feelings. He also conveyed that he wanted to deliver messages about certain social themes through his work.

Director MORIGAKI screened the film titled "Rude to Love" at HIFF this year. Mr. HIRAMA, who had seen this film earlier, commented that it had been a film that brought him some emotions that are difficult to express. Director MORIGAKI revealed the social theme under the film that there is an essence that has been lost in the process of digitization, where everything is replaced by numbers. The audience listened attentively, sometimes nodding their heads.

Director MORIGAKI also mentioned how people see the film. He shared that he understands there are advantages of subscription video on-demand service, but he would like film-fans to visit theaters so they could enjoy and treasure even their lingering emotions after watching.

When Director MORIGAKI concluded the event with his gratitude to the audience in his hometown, the audience replied with loud applause.
