Screening and Talk Show: ”Love Song for Hiroshima”… How about starting with a light anti-nuke film?
The world premiere screening of “Love Song for Hiroshima” was held on November 23rd (Sat) from 7:30 p.m. at NTT CRED Hall No.1.
After the screening, Ryosuke SOTA, the leading actor and Yuji YOKOYAMA, the producer and RCC announcer showed up and walked down the red carpet. The show was conducted by freelance personality Michita KIMURA.
The story of the film begins with Mocchi and Ayaka, Hiroshima local youth, encountering a mysterious American tourist called John and showing him around the city of Hiroshima. John has a mysterious power and starts finding things other people do not see…. A fantasy of love and peace delivered from Hiroshima.
Before the talk show began, a message from Director Hideyuki TOKIGAWA, who was absent due to poor health, was read. “I regret not being there even though I was really looking forward to it. This film started from the idea of YOKOYAMA and Kyoko HEYA is in charge of art direction. With the support of local companies, we created a film that helps people think about peace. I would like to express my gratitude to people who made this possible”.
In the talk show, SODA looked happy when YOKOYAMA said “SODA was on the top of our candidate list, so we were all delighted when he got the role.” SODA said, “Although I never thought about getting involved with the film industry in my college days, now I think I may be suitable for it. And the homey atmosphere on the set was really nice”. YOKOYAMA then responded by complimenting SODA, “He is a very thoughtful person and that makes him even greater.” YOKOYAMA also talked about the film, “I had been thinking that an anti-nuke film is difficult, but Director TOKIGAWA sent me an idea note about the bombed tree at his old school. Then we start thinking it would be possible to make an anti-war film without extreme depictions by combining romance and fantasy.”
Finally, at YOKOYAMA’s suggestion, all the people involved in the film came up on stage to offer a comment each, and then a group photo was taken with the audience. The talk show ended on a high note.
“Love Song for Hiroshima” is scheduled to be screened in Hiroshima in May of 2025, followed by a nationwide release in early summer.
