On Friday, November 22, from 9:00 a.m., a cenotaph flower dedication was held at the Peace Memorial Park.

The floral tribute was attended by Ming Hsia WANG, director of “Chinhua's Blossom Unfolds”, Ryuichi KITABATA, director of “Goodbye”, Rotha MOENG, director of “The Rubber Tappers”, Ihsan ACHDIAT, director of “Visiting Linda”, Roger XUE, director of “Go Class”, Michihito FUJII, director of "18×2 Beyond Youthful Days" , Director Kosuke SAKODA and actress Iroha SAKAMOTO from "Laying Down Looking Up", Hideyuki TOKIGAWA director of "Love Song for Hiroshima", representative Hisako DEYAMA, and secretariat manager Keiko AOKI from "The A-Bomb Dome and Hiroshima" Action Committee. The participants offered prayers for peace.

This year marked the 16th time for Director FUJII to participate in the film festival. After offering flowers with a tense look on his face, he expressed his enthusiasm for the film festival, saying, “I want to continue to do my best.” The director also entered “18 x 2 Beyond Youthful Days” in the festival this year.

Director TOKIGAWA, who also attended the floral tribute, said he participated with a strong desire for peace. The director is submitting “Love Song for Hiroshima,” a peace-themed film, to this year's festival. He will be attending the film festival with a renewed desire to convey the importance of peace through his film.

Hiroshima International Film Festival 2024 will be held at NTT CRED Hall and Hiroshima City Cinematographic and Audio-VIsual Library for three days starting Friday, November 22.

Now in its 16th year, the festival's motto is to create encounters between people and people, and between people and films, by screening films with positive power from around the world. Ahead of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing next year, a variety of films will be screened, including those with peace as their theme and those set in Hiroshima. We have prepared a variety of programs for everyone to enjoy, including “Special Screenings,” which are gathering worldwide attention, “Hiroshima EYE,” which will screen films related to Hiroshima, “International Short Film Competition,” and “Talk Shows” and “Teach-ins” by filmmakers. We sincerely look forward to seeing you at the festival.
