<Story>
Thomas Blatt, sent to the Sobibor extermination camp in Eastern Poland in 1943 when he was 15, is one of the 53 people who experienced the Sobibor uprising and lived to tell about it. He visits present day Poland and the site of the camp while talking about the situation at the time. He speaks calmly with no dramatizing, just laying out the facts of the matter. One could call this film the antithesis of Claude Lanzmann’s Sobibór, October 14, 1943, 4 p.m. (2001).

<Story>
A documentary focusing on the singularly unique style of the husband-wife filmmaker duo Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet whom Nestler was friends with. Combining onstage comments made in Stockholm in 2004, scenes from the duo’s films and their shooting process, Pedro Costa documentaries and various photographs and paintings, Nestler’s film is a meditation on artists and their art. The film also includes footage of some of the last location work of Huillet, who passed away in 2006.

<Story>
Etgar Keret’s short story The Hollow People is about people who have lost their bodies and turned into voices. This premise is combined with a collage of sketches made by Nestler himself and music by Alban Berg, resulting in a poetic short film. As of now, this is Nestler’s latest film as a director.

<Story>
For over 20 years the citizens of Wiesenberg had cultivated the same rituals. The singing mountaineers met once a week in the local church to rehearse together and they yodelled for weddings and birthdays. In the meantime their world has been turned upside down: their CDs have stormed the charts and they are bombarded with concert offers. The allure of show business! Now they are scheduled to perform in Shanghai. This tempting offer turns into a crucial test. A film about mountain dwellers who try to remain authentic, caught between their traditions and show business.
