A press conference for the “At This Corner (and Other Corners) of the World”
A press conference for the “At This Corner (and Other Corners) of the World” was held on Friday, November 22nd at NTT Cred Hall No.2, and the director Sunao Katabuchi talked about his film.
He seemed to be a little surprised that a big applause welcomed him. At the beginning of the press conference, he gave his speech saying, “I’m happy to introduce this brand-new film to you, I hope people in Kure and Hiroshima like it.” He also referred to the factor which caused “At This Corner (And other Corners) of the World” to be an unexpectedly big hit. “Animation as a method of expression has a great potential, we can tell many kinds of things through this. Our film is supported by many people in their 60s to 80s in years of age, who see the story as their own,” he said.
“The version displayed today is, in fact, still in progress. We’re making some more additional scenes for the autumn in 1945. But our former works will not be replaced by the latest one. We hope you would accept each story as different work and compare one with each other,” Mr. Katabuchi said with happy excitement, concluding the press.
