Chen Liang, a young Chinese man is an illegal immigrant in Japan. One day he receives a call about a job offer meant for someone else. In his desperation, he pretends to be the intended recipient in order to get the job, which turns out to be work at a traditional Japanese soba restaurant. He starts his new life living and working with the elderly soba master with the fear that his identity could be exposed at any moment.

Born in 1941 in Beijing, China and living most of his life in Japan, Tatsuya Fuji has starred more than 80 films and TV series in his 45-year acting career. In 1976, his lead- ing performance in Nagisa Oshima’s controversial film In the Realm of the Senses put him under the spotlight. Four of his films, In the Realm of Senses and Empire of Passion by director Nagisha Oshima, Bright Future (2000) by Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Radiance (2017) by Naomi Kawase, went to the big screen of the Festival de Cannes. In 2005, his profound portrayal in the film Mura No Shashinshuu awarded him the Best Actor of Golden Goblet Award at Shanghai International Film Festival. In 2015, Tatsuya Fuji starred Takeshi Kitano’s Ryuzo and the Seven Henchmen.
Kei Chikaura started a career as a filmmaker in 2013. His 2nd short film, The Lasting Persimmon was selected for Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2016. His 3rd and latest short film, Signature was selected for Locarno International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival 2017, among many others. It won the Grand Prix at Encounters Film Festival 2017.
